"Coming Together: Family Reunion Photography in McCall Idaho

I recently had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful family reunion in McCall Idaho. This family was truly a treasure, their family bond and love for each other unmistakeable. Watching the grandkids interact with their cousins, and grandparents love on their grand-babies was just so fun and heartwarming to capture.

I've shot quite a few family reunions in McCall being that it's a family vacation destination spot. During a family reunion shoot I think to myself "what group pairings are going to be most important to this family?" First on my list of course is the entire family shot, then broken down from there are the grandkids with grand parents shots, grandkids all together (after all, how often do you get them all together yeah?!), immediate siblings with their parents, siblings with spouses, and I always try to fit in a mini session for each individual family within the group, capturing each family, couple, or individual as they are in their current and various stages of life.

I'll be honest, moving to a small town, having to switch up my photography bio, was scary for me. I honestly didn't think I would like photographing large extended families. But after doing a few, I have come to really truly love it! Families are so happy when they all come together in one place, and it brings me SO much joy capturing and preserving your memories while you're all together in one place. So I say, bring on the extended families, we got this.
